Spring Cleaning For Your Body

It's not just your home that can use some spring cleaning. There are some paths of health that use the natural rhythm of the seasons to help the body or assist the body's own natural systems to cleanse. For instance, in traditional Chinese medicine, each season is associated with a different organ and spring is the season of the liver.  Other systems teach that certain foods or plants assist in this process of cleansing the body.

For example, good liver cleansing foods are beets, dandelion greens, springtime greens and asparagus (which is comes into season in the spring). Reducing fatty foods, meats, alcohol and coffee also supports the liver. In any case, spring time is considered a transition season, the weight we naturally can accumulate over the winter desires to be shed. Eating more greens and reducing heavier foods is always good advice to implement and if it's good for the liver, even better!
